Privacy Policy for Apposite
Last Updated: September 26, 2026
Apposite ("we," "us," or "our") is an app drawer that shows the apps you use at the place you are. This policy explains what Apposite does with your information, what leaves your phone, and where it goes.
1. What Apposite uses on your phone
A. Location
Apposite uses your location to work out which place you are at and which of your apps fit it. Without location, the drawer has nothing to suggest, but the list of all your apps still works.
- When you open the drawer: Apposite reads your location each time you open it.
- When you open the All apps list: Apposite reads your location while the list is open, to learn which apps you open at which place. That reading stays on your phone.
- Trip Mode: If you start Trip Mode, Apposite runs a foreground service with a visible notification that checks your location while the trip lasts, so the drawer is ready when you arrive. You start it, it ends on its own after the time shown, and you can end it at any time. Apposite does not use background location permission.
B. Usage access (optional)
If you turn on Android's "Usage access" for Apposite, it can see which apps you open, so it learns which apps you use at each place even when you open them from somewhere other than the drawer. Without it, Apposite learns only from the apps you open through the drawer.
C. Your installed apps
Apposite reads the list of apps installed on your phone to show them and to work out what each one is for.
All of this learning stays on your phone, in Apposite's own storage.
2. What leaves your phone, and where it goes
Apposite has no accounts and no ads, and it never sells or shares your data. Some features do need to ask other services a question; each is listed here.
- Google Places (Google Maps Platform): your precise coordinates, to find the places around you and their names, types, addresses, phone numbers, websites and opening hours. Google's privacy policy applies to these requests.
- Open-Meteo (weather): at outdoor places such as parks, trails, campgrounds and marinas only, your coordinates rounded to two decimal places (about one kilometre), to show the weather. No identifier is sent.
- Google Play: Apposite asks Google Play for public store pages. It searches Google Play for a place's or brand's name to find that business's own app; it looks up an app's store page by its package name to show its icon or its release notes; and when you search in the drawer and the "elsewhere" results are shown, it sends what you typed to Google Play search to show the top matching app.
- Businesses' own websites: to confirm that an app really belongs to a business, Apposite may fetch that business's public website and its
/.well-known/assetlinks.json file. Like any web request, this shows your IP address to that website.
- Google Maps and Android's geocoder: your coordinates, to turn them into a street address when no named place is found, and the area around a place when you view it on a map.
- Google's website icon service: to show a place's logo, Apposite asks Google's favicon service for the icon of the place's website domain.
- Our server (jumblemint.com): see section 3.
3. What reaches our server
Apposite downloads a public list of corrected app matches from our server from time to time. That request, like any web request, shows your IP address. Apart from that, something reaches our server only when you send it:
- Wrong app match: when you mark an app as "not that kind of app," Apposite sends the app's package name, its name and the capability you disputed. Reports from enough different people correct the match for everyone.
- Feedback: the message you typed and, if you attach one, a screenshot. If you leave "Include diagnostics" on, it also sends the app version, your phone model, Android version and language, a description of the last drawer shown (the place's name and type and the apps listed, with the reason for each), and a short log of recent app activity that never names a place or an app you opened. You can read exactly what will be sent, including your install ID, before you send it.
- "Is that right?": tapping "Looks right" or "Not quite" on the explanation of why an app was suggested sends that explanation (the app, the place's name and type, the capability, the need and the score), anything you typed, and the app version and phone model.
- Crash reports: only if you turn on "Send crash reports" (it is off unless you choose it, on the welcome screens or in Settings). After a crash, the next launch sends the error, the stack trace, the app version, your phone model, Android version and language, how long the last drawer took to open, and the activity log described above. Crash reports never include your location, places or the apps you open.
Every report carries a random install ID created by Apposite. It is not tied to your Google account, your phone or your location. It is not included in Android backup, so a reinstall or a new phone gets a new one. It is shown in Settings › Privacy, under Diagnostics.
Our server records the IP address of each request in its access logs, and keeps a one-way hash of it to limit how many reports one address can send and to count wrong-match reports from different people. We keep reports as long as they are useful for fixing the app, and we never sell or share them.
4. Android backup
Apposite takes part in Android's standard app backup, so your settings, saved places and learned apps may be included in the backup your phone keeps in your own Google account and restored to a new phone. That backup is yours: we cannot read it, and you control it in your phone's backup settings. The install ID is left out of it.
5. Your choices
- Permissions: you can grant or remove location and usage access at any time in Android settings.
- Trip Mode: runs only when you start it, and you can end it at any time.
- Crash reports: the "Send crash reports" switch in Settings › Privacy, under Diagnostics.
- Learned data: Settings › Privacy › "Clear learned data" removes what Apposite has learned on your phone; clearing the app's storage in Android settings removes everything.
- Deleting what you sent: Settings › Privacy › Diagnostics › "Delete my reports from the server" removes everything your install sent us — feedback, crash reports, screenshots and wrong-match reports. You can also email us your install ID and ask us to delete them.
6. Children
Apposite is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their information.
7. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
